Taxi from Schiphol to Utrecht — Practical Travel Guide

By Team GoEuroTaxi·

A pre-booked taxi from Schiphol (AMS) to Utrecht takes about 35 minutes and costs from around €70 all-in. The route is roughly 45 km via the A4 and A2, putting you at your Utrecht address — useful for business travellers heading into the central Netherlands.

Cost and journey time

Typical pre-booked fixed fares are €70–€80 for a sedan and €95–€115 for a minivan or 8-seater. Outside peak hours the drive is about 30–35 minutes. Rush-hour traffic on the A2 between Vinkeveen and Utrecht can add 10–15 minutes.

Route

Standard route is Schiphol → A4 → A2 south → exit toward Utrecht centre. For drop-offs in Utrecht Science Park / De Uithof, drivers often take the A27 instead — the system picks the live-traffic-fastest option.

Common Utrecht destinations

  • Utrecht Centraal Station and the Hoog Catharijne shopping district.

  • Utrecht University and University Medical Center (UMC)

  • Jaarbeurs — convention and exhibition centre, large concerts.

  • Utrecht Science Park / De Uithof — Utrecht Science Park, biotech and research.

  • Dom Tower and the historic centre

  • Leidsche Rijn — newer residential and business district to the west.

Train vs taxi

Schiphol to Utrecht Centraal by train takes about 35 minutes (€10–€11), with a change at Duivendrecht for some services. The taxi advantage shows up when:

  • Your final destination is anywhere other than Centraal (most of the Science Park, UMC, residential areas).

  • You're travelling in a group of 3+.

  • You have luggage to manage.

  • You arrive after the Sprinter network thins out late at night.

Going beyond Utrecht?

Utrecht sits in the middle of the country, so it's a common base for onward travel to Amersfoort, Den Bosch or the eastern Netherlands. We can quote fixed fares for those onward legs the same way.
